National Center for Privatization and PPP (NCP) canceled its tender for Ras Al-Khair water desalination plant, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rayyan Nagadi told Al-Arabiya TV.

The COVID-19 repercussions impacted the companies interested in a huge project such as the water desalination and power plant in Ras Al-Khair, which led to the cancellation of the project as it will not fulfill the state’s targets.

Nagadi affirmed that other privatization projects in the remaining sectors across the Kingdom, including education, health, transport and water, are still ongoing.

The Supervisory Committee for the Privatization of the Environment, Water and Agriculture Sector decided to cancel the offering of the desalination and power plant in Ras Al-Khair, Argaam earlier reported.
