US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick
US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said today, June 11, that US tariffs on Chinese imports will remain at current levels, despite progress toward a trade agreement with Beijing.
In an interview with CNBC, Lutnick was asked if the existing tariffs would stay unchanged.
“You can absolutely say that,” he replied.
President Donald Trump said today that US tariffs on Chinese goods will reach 55%, after top-level trade talks concluded in London.
A White House official told NBC News the 55% figure isn't new. It combines the existing 30% broad-based tariff and a 25% duty on selected Chinese products already in place.
