The number of Americans filing new applications for jobless benefits decreased by more than projected in the week ended June 21, reflecting a stronger labor market.
A report released by the Labor Department today, June 26, indicated that initial unemployment claims tumbled to 236,000 — a decline of 10,000 from the previous week's revised level of 246,000.
The report also indicated that the less volatile four-week moving average slumped to 245,000, versus the previous week's revised average of 245,750.
