The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has launched the “Work Interruption” service through the unified national recruitment platform “Musaned,”.

In a statement today, the ministry said that the service comes with the aim of facilitating and enabling individual employers to legally terminate the contractual relationship in cases where a domestic worker stops reporting to work, thus preserving the rights of both parties.

Moreover, the service allows individual employers to carry out two main procedures: the “contract termination due to work interruption” service and the “labor transfer” service, in accordance with regulatory controls that ensure fairness between the parties to the contractual relationship.

The ministry also explained that if a domestic worker’s contract is terminated due to work interruption within the first two years of entering the Kingdom, the worker must leave the country permanently within a period not exceeding 60 days. Failure to do so will be considered a violation of residency and labor regulations.

However, if the domestic worker has been in the Kingdom for more than two years, they must either exit permanently or transfer to a new employer within 60 days from the date of work interruption. Failure to regularize their status within this period will result in the worker being classified as absent from work and in violation of applicable regulations.
