Saudi Arabian Mining Co. (Maaden) exported 5-6 million tons of phosphate to more than 20 countries around the world in 2019, CNBC Arabia reported, citing Khaled Bin Sulaiman Alohali, Senior Vice President for Corporate Affairs.

Upon the development of phosphate 3 project, Maaden will export 9 million tons per annum and accordingly, the Kingdom will become the world's second or third phosphate producer and will play a key role in the sustainability of global food system.

"Maaden currently fulfills the Saudi market needs of aluminum, and exports to several countries," said Alohali, adding that the company recently acquired an 85% stake in the Mauritius-based Meridian Group within its expansion plans in Africa. Maaden also seeks other expansion opportunities around the world, he noted.

Maaden produces phosphate and aluminum which are exported as finished products, while it exports gold and copper as raw materials.
