Sipchem signs 2 agreements at 16th annual GPCA Forum

The agreements signing

Sahara International Petrochemical Co. (Sipchem) stressed its commitment to maintain its effort toward sustainability, being a pillar of its core strategy. Sipchem announced today, Dec. 8, signing two agreements at the 16th Annual Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) Forum, as the company successfully concluded its participation in the forum held under the theme ‘Chemistry in Action, Shaping a Sustainable Future.'

The first agreement was sealed with Sea/, a leading provider of shipping services, for establishing a carbon emission tracking system for marine transport services and streamlining operations to reduce emissions. This will allow Sipchem’s team to verify data automatically, respond effectively to customer needs and maintain sustainability standards locally and globally. It will enable including carbon terms in contracts automatically. It is worth noting that this agreement is the first of its kind in the GCC petrochemical industry.

Meanwhile, the second agreement included a contract for the supply of plastic pallets with IPlast Saudi LLC, under which wooden pallets will be replaced with recycled plastic pallets that offer several advantages compared with those made of tree wood. The recycled plastic pallets can be used for a longer time, with the possibility of reshaping and using them when needed to preserve the environment. This step aims to localize supply chains and enable Vision 2030 to support the national industry and local content.

Eng. Mater Al Dhafeeri, Commercial Vice President at Sipchem, said: “We, at Sipchem, realize our important role in sustainability, so we provide solutions that enable us to manufacture and ship our products with the minimal damage to the environment. We work to achieve Vision 2030 goals, including sustainability and net-zero by 2050, as well as supporting the local content. We are also keen to pursue our endeavors towards the environment and reduce the impact of carbon emissions."
