Saudi investments in Bahrain Bourse accounted for 7 percent of the traded shares by the end of May, Al-Eqtisadiah reported, citing CEO Shaikh Khalifa bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa.

Bahrain Bourse is seeking to increase Saudi investors contribution rate to match the size and diversification of the Kingdom’s investments in several economic sectors in Bahrain, he said.

Commenting on the inclusion of Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) in the emerging market indexes, he said that this step will not only have a positive impact on Saudi Arabia but on the Gulf markets on the long run, amid calls for a unified Gulf bourse.

As for the steps taken to establish the unified bourse, he said that it came a long way in overcoming several hurdles to opening up capital markets and Gulf stock bourses, especially on listings level, which was approved by the regulatory authorities in the Gulf countries.
