POS weekly transactions at SAR 11.3B : SAMA

POS device


Point-of-sale (POS) transactions reached nearly SAR 11.27 billion in the week ended Nov. 18, compared to roughly SAR 11.50 billion in the week before, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.

 

Data showed that about 180.22 million transactions were processed during the week.

 

POS transactions represent consumer spending using ATMs and credit cards in shopping malls, retail stores, pharmacies, etc.

The telecommunications sector declined the most by 18%, followed by the food & beverages, which fell by 10%. 

  

Hotels emerged as the top-performing sector, rising by 37%, with education and transport following with a 3% rise each. 

  

Consumer spending focused on the restaurants & cafes sector for the week, with nearly SAR 1.76 billion, followed by the food & beverages sector with SAR 1.65 billion, as follows:

Riyadh led in terms of POS transactions’ value by city, accounting for nearly SAR 3.85 billion, or 34.11%, of the total. Jeddah came in second with SAR 1.59 billion, as shown below:
