Cluster2 OpCo, which is responsible for the operation and development of the Kingdom's airports, provided an update on the progress of work at the under-construction King Abdullah Airport in Jazan.

The airport is 40% complete, Cluster2 indicated in a video from the construction site.

The new airport is located at a strategic location in Jazan, on a total area of 50 million square meters, company officials said.

The airport's three-storey terminal is supported by 2,800 concrete piles and spans a total area of 57,000 square meters. The main runway is 3,600 meters long and 60 meters wide, and the parallel runway is 3,510 meters long and 45 meters wide.

The airport also includes five passenger bridge gates and two ground gates that receive all aircraft. The airport can handle 12 flights at the same time, and serve 2.4 million passengers annually for domestic and international flights.
