Ministry of Commerce spokesperson Abdulrahman Al-Hussein
The Ministry of Commerce's car-dealership metrics aim to help consumers make informed purchasing decisions, including inventory data, reservations, after-sales services, compliance levels, and consumer rights, Ministry's Spokesperson Abdulrahman Al-Hussein said.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Al-Hussein explained that the ministry’s car dealership evaluation allows prospective buyers to transparently review each dealership’s performance and service levels, aiding them in making decisions amid a wide range of options.
He added that the inventory and reservation data enables consumers to track the availability of high-demand vehicles, the number of customers on waiting lists, and estimated delivery times. Meanwhile, after-sales service provides insights into the time required for spare parts availability, price updates, complaint resolution periods, and emergency malfunction inspection.
The compliance level measures how well dealerships address complaints submitted to the ministry and the percentage of unresolved cases after the initial response.
As for consumer rights compliance, the evaluation allows buyers to assess dealerships’ adherence to providing key information, such as vehicle specifications, pricing, delivery times, and warranty details. It also examines reservation mechanisms, complaint handling, and the availability of consumer rights policies.
According to data compiled by Argaam, the Ministry of Commerce released an analysis of auto dealership performance, offering consumers greater transparency. It evaluated dealership performance and service quality, empowering buyers to make informed decisions in a competitive market.
The ministry noted that this assessment fosters competition among dealerships and improves service quality, as it is updated periodically.
