Beijing warns against backing US to restrict trade with China

China warned countries against cooperating with the US in ways that threaten its interests, saying it will take reciprocal action.

This came amid reports that the Trump administration plans to use tariff negotiations to pressure other countries to limit trade with Beijing.

China firmly opposes any party striking an agreement at the expense of its interests, stating that it will not accept such deals and will respond with resolute countermeasures, CNBC reported, citing China's Ministry of Commerce.

The statement indicated China's willingness to work with all parties and defend international justice and fairness, describing the US action as an abuse of tariffs.

Several countries are preparing to hold talks with the US to obtain reductions or exemptions from the broad tariffs imposed by President Trump. He later announced a 90-day pause for 60 trading partners.
