Canada’s Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne confirmed that talks are underway among G7 members to address the surge in inexpensive Chinese goods, which are often sold through e-commerce platforms at prices that evade traditional tariffs.

The Financial Times reported that the European Union is considering imposing a fixed fee on imported low value shipments, with France seeking to add additional fees to these packages, and the United Kingdom and Japan are considering similar steps.

Moreover, US President Donald Trump has targeted these goods by revoking previous customs exemptions, as the US is the largest market for these small packages.
