Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak met with OPEC Secretary-General Haitham Al Ghais on Wednesday to discuss the state of global energy markets as tensions escalate between Israel and Iran.
In a statement, OPEC said the talks addressed key issues including energy security, the risks posed by underinvestment, and the critical role of the market in supporting global economic growth.
Novak said Russia values the effectiveness of cooperation within the OPEC+ alliance, adding that regular, trust-based dialogue enables the group to make decisions at ministerial meetings that reflect the interests of all members.
The meeting was held as part of the 10th OPEC–Russia Energy Dialogue, taking place on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
