Saudi Energy Minister meets with IAEA DG in Riyadh

Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz received today, July 17, in Riyadh the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi.

 

During the meeting, they discussed several points of mutual interest including recent developments in the Kingdom’s National Atomic Energy Program, and the progress achieved in collaboration with IAEA.

 

They also explored ways to enhance technical and scientific cooperation and to apply the highest international standards of nuclear safety and security.

 

The discussions also included preparations for the International Conference on Nuclear and Radiological Emergencies, to be held in Riyadh in December, through the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission, in partnership with the IAEA.

 

The meeting was part of the ongoing cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the IAEA in various areas, including knowledge exchange and the strengthening of national capabilities in nuclear and radiological energy, contributing to the development of nuclear infrastructure and supporting the role of the sector in diversifying the energy mix and achieving sustainability in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
