The US Treasury Department announced on Aug. 21 imposing new Iran-related sanctions targeting 13 entities and several vessels, as part of Washington’s efforts to curb violations of sanctions on Iranian crude exports.
The sanctions list includes Greek national Antonios Margaritis and his network of companies and vessels, which the Treasury said were involved in transporting Iranian oil in breach of sanctions.
The measures also cover shipping firms registered in Hong Kong and the Marshall Islands, as well as oil tankers flying various flags, including Panama.
In addition, the Treasury sanctioned two Chinese companies operating oil storage facilities and handling Iranian crude imports via tankers that had previously been blacklisted by the US.
