Bill Gates tops Forbes richest for 2015; Saudi Prince Alwaleed richest in Arab world

Bill Gates has topped Forbes list as the world’s richest person for 2015 for the second year in a row, with his net worth at $79.2 billion this year from $76 billion last year.

Gates has topped the list for 16 of the last 21 years.

Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Alsaud, owner of the Saudi Arabia-listed Kingdom Holding Co., was identified as the richest person in the Arab world with a net worth of $22.9 billion. He is ranked 34 on the world’s list.

Forbes said the fortunes of 1,826 billionaires worldwide grew from $6.4 trillion in 2014 to $7.05 trillion this year.

Evan Spiegel, 24 years, who co-founded mobile messaging app Snapchat, is the youngest billionaire in the world with a net worth of $1.5 billion.

Christy Walton, who was an heir to Walmart in 2005 following her husband’s death in an airline crash, is listed as the world’s wealthiest woman worldwide with a $41.7 billion net worth. 

Warren Buffett was the biggest winner, seeing his fortune rise $14.5 billion to $72.7 billion, thanks to the performance of Berkshire Hathaway’s shares. The American multinational conglomerate, based in the state of Nebraska, currently manages and oversees a number of subsidiaries.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg climbed up five spots to rank 16 on the list.
