The Ramada Dubai hotel, one of the city’s first four star hotels, will be closing doors after over three decades of operation, according to a statement on its official Facebook page.

“After 33 successful years, Ramada Dubai Hotel is about to embark on a total property enhancement project that will turn the hotel into a magnificent landmark and a touristic attraction in the city,” the statement said, adding that the hotel – one of Dubai’s first 4-star properties – will officially close on August 31, 2016.

No reason was specified for the closing down.

“We will continue to serve loyal customers in providing excellent accommodation solutions at [the] Ramada Jumeirah Hotel located on Al Mina Road,” the hotel said.

“Talented and skilled staff” at the Ramada Dubai will be recruited for the Ramada Jumeirah Hotel and other hotels under the owning company, a spokesperson said.

Last month, UAE-based supermarket chain Spinneys closed its outlet located near the Ramada Dubai, saying its outlet on Trade Centre Road nearby already serves the community, according to local media reports.
