One of Dubai’s most important roads has been renamed after Saudi Arabia’s King Salman on orders from the emirate’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE state news agency WAM reported on Wednesday.

Al Sufouh Street, which runs through economic zones like Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City, will be known as King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street.

The announcement coincides with the kingdom’s 86th national day, and “reflects the historically strong relations between the UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” the statement said.

The six-lane street has a total capacity of 4,500 vehicles per hour in each direction, with several landmarks located alongside it, such as Palm Jumeirah, Madinat Jumeirah, and Dubai Marina.
