Saudi telecom regulator grants Zain Saudi unified license

20/02/2017 Argaam

Saudi Arabia’s Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has granted Mobile Telecommunications Company (Zain Saudi) with a unified telecommunication license, after the telecom operator obtained all the relevant approvals, the regulator said in a statement.

Last October, a government order was issued directing the CITC to provide the kingdom’s operators with unified telecommunication licenses, and extend their licensing periods by 15 years.

Under the new licensing system, operators will be able to provide fixed-and-mobile services, as well as internet services.

The unified license will allow increased competition and subscriber options by enhancing network efficiency and cutting costs, the CITC said.
