Al Ahsa Investment Forum 2019 recommended building a new international airport in the governorate to help promote economic development and to meet current and future individual and business sector needs, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The forum, which concluded Thursday, also recommended to resume the development of Al-Ahsa 2nd Industrial City’s infrastructure, including a logistics zone.

Promoting investment initiatives in the tourism sector and resuming vital projects including Al-Uqair project was also recommended.

The forum called for protecting UNSECO-listed Al-Ahsa Oasis, which was named Arab Tourism Capital for 2019, from any threats.

In its concluding statement, the forum called for a comprehensive revision of the municipal sector’s organizational environment, which would grant municipalities privileges to help improve their services and lead sustainable development.

The statement also advised to form an independent government authority to regulate the investment environment using modern practices in-line with Vision 2030.
