The general entertainment authority (GEA) is aiming to attract around SAR 69 billion in investments and generate over 200,000 jobs, CEO Amr Banaja told CNBC Arabia.
Saudis used to spend SAR 5.6 billion on entertainment outside the Kingdom, before the establishment of the GEA, he said.
Saudi Arabia’s seasonal events are for the short-term, he said, adding that they aimed to create a promising entertainment atmosphere that covers culture and sports, as well as entertainment.
On the other hand, Qiddiya and other projects -- that need infrastructure -- are year-round and long-term.
