The General Authority of Zakat and Tax (GAZT) received 2,998 e-requests to pay Zakat due, in installments since the beginning of 2020, Al Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing GAZT.
GAZT added there are 2,157 beneficiaries of paying Zakat in installments during 2020.
The canceled installment cases reached 89. The GAZT has the right to consider the installment decision canceled in case the taxpayer stops paying two successive installments or three non-consecutive installments during the installment period, or if it appears that the Zakat dues are liable to be lost, GAZT clarified.
The taxpayer is obligated to pay what is owed in full, after being notified by the authority.
According to data compiled by Argaam, GAZT allows the service of requesting payment in installments in case an entity faces difficulties in paying the amount in full.
The entity, therefore, has to make the advance payment for the installment request while also providing justifications for the request.
