Saudi Arabia maintained its 49th position in the global e-commerce index, issued by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), with a total of 72.3 points in 2020.

Saudi internet users grew to 96% from 93% in 2019, according to the UNCTAD report.

The Business-to-Consumer E-commerce Index scores 152 nations on their readiness for online shopping. Countries are scored on access to secure internet servers, reliability of postal services and infrastructure, and proportion of individuals who use the internet and e-payment services.

For the first time, Switzerland led the UNCTAD B2C E-commerce Index, just ahead of the Netherlands and Denmark, which came second and third, respectively.
