The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) is studying with other government entities to localize leadership positions in companies, Al Riyadh newspaper reported, citing Ahmed Al Sharqi, Assistant Deputy Minister of Research and Data.

During a workshop, Al Sharqi highlighted the importance of balancing the localization of leadership positions, as well as fulfilling the requirements of competency and gradual acquisition of experience. He noted that the ministry takes into consideration the attraction of foreign investments.

Major companies need resilience when attracting competencies at the beginning of their investment in the Kingdom, he said.

Al Sharqi further added that the ministry is keen to provide a high level of resilience for the localization of leadership positions, and is studying different jobs localization periodically.

In September 2020, press reports stated that the Shura Council aimed to discuss a proposal to amend Article 26/2 of the Labor Law, about determining the ratio of Saudis working in the private sector establishments, with a focus on localizing 75% of the leadership positions, according to data available with Argaam.
