Saudi Arabia will host the inaugural summit for Saudi Green Initiative and Middle East Green Initiative in the capital from Oct. 23 to 25. The two initiatives were announced by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman last March.

The organization of this summit is driven by the Kingdom’s leading role to preserve climate, support the international community’s efforts to face environment related challenges and have a sustainable global impact in the face of climate change as well as earth protection.

The Saudi Green Initiative Forum (SGI) and Middle East Green Initiative Summit (MGI) will bring together heads of state, public officials, business leaders, as well as and environmental specialists and academic experts.

Under both initiatives, 50 billion trees will be planted in the region. Moreover, they target a reduction in carbon emissions by more than 10% of global contributions.
