Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud issued a Royal Decree on transforming King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSHRC) into an independent, non-profit organization.

The move is aimed at launching a comprehensive transformation program to make KFSHRC one of the best healthcare centers in the world.

According to its articles of association, the hospital has a legal personality and independent financial status as an independent institution with a private and non-profit nature.

The hospital has the full capacity to take all necessary measures to achieve its goals, manage all its branches, affairs, offices, and facilities, as per the relevant regulations.

The hospital is owned by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) and has the right to establish branches and offices inside and outside the Kingdom.

It also aims to be a regional and global leader in the fields of healthcare, to boost growth, development, and innovation in the fields of medical and healthcare research.

To achieve its objectives, the hospital's powers – as defined in the articles of association – include cooperating with specialized research entities locally and globally to develop means of treatment and medical care.

The hospital’s powers also include supporting the Kingdom's medical tourism and contributing to the development of charitable and non-profit sector programs, as well as owning, disposing of, and investing assets. It will also establish or invest in companies and other establishments, in addition to concluding cooperation agreements and exchanging experiences with hospitals and other local, regional, and international centers.

The board of directors consists of 11 members, including a chairman and a vice chairman, and their term lasts three years, to be renewed twice.

The articles of association come into effect from the date of publication in the official gazette.
