Part of the launch
Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing Majid Al-Hogail launched today, Feb. 16, manual of procedures for the procurement of infrastructure projects in the Saudi municipal sector, on the sidelines of the Transformation of Infrastructure Project Management Forum.
Al-Hogail said the manual is in line with the ministry’s steps to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, with the aim of developing infrastructure and achieving world-class cities. This is by targeting the inclusion of at least three Saudi cities in the list of the 100 most livable cities in the world by 2030, according to state-run Saudi Press Agency.
The ministry also seeks to create sustainable success through strategic partnerships with the contracting sector and engineering offices. This is by joining forces to develop systems and procedures that raise levels of competitiveness in terms of quality and efficiency, which will reflect positively on the quality of life in Saudi cities, the minister added.
He further said that the ministry targets applying these procedures and standards to more than 6,800 infrastructure projects that will be implemented over the next five years.
