Nabil Khoja, Secretary General of the Economic Cities and Special Zones Authority
The launch of the four special economic zones (SEZs) was a springboard for a long-term program that targets more SEZs over the coming years, Al Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing the Economic Cities and Special Zones Authority (ECZA) Secretary General Nabil Khoja.
The program will be implemented within the framework of a national strategy designed for SEZs in the Kingdom, he stated.
Based on an analysis of the economic landscape at the national level, optimal proposals will be generated for establishing new zones in compliance with the strategic objectives that aim to attract new sectors, Khoja added.
SEZs are developed for a significant role, namely, to facilitate international investments in Saudi Arabia, integrate multiple sectors into global value chains, and facilitate the presence of major multinational companies in the Kingdom.
The zones have already succeeded in attracting a number of major international investors, as investment agreements have been signed and will be announced soon, he noted.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs (CEDA), launched four SEZs in Riyadh, Jazan, Ras Al-Khair, and King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) in northern Jeddah, Argaam earlier reported.
