Oil tanks
US oil inventories increased by 1.84 million barrels during the week ended Dec. 22, latest data from the American Petroleum Institute (API) showed.
Gasoline stocks dropped by 482,000 barrels last week, while distillate stocks—including diesel and heating oil—rose by approximately 272,000 barrels.
Meanwhile, Brent crude for March delivery fell by $1.31 to close at $79.54 per barrel.
The US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude shed 1.95%, or $1.46, to end at $74.11 per barrel.
