Cluster 2 flights up 10%, passengers jump 15% in Q1 2024

Cluster 2 Co. reported a 10% year-on-year (YoY) growth in the number of flights to 36,000 in Q1 2024, with the passenger count jumping 15% YoY to 4.2 million.

 

Launched on Jan. 1, 2022, the company operates and develops the Kingdom's local, regional and tourist airports. It manages and operates 22 airports across Saudi Arabia to achieve the Kingdom’s tourism goals and contribute to the aviation sector’s development.

 

Among the airports managed and operated by Cluster 2 are  AlUla International Airport, Najran International Airport, Bisha Domestic Airport, Arar Domestic Airport, Sharurah Domestic Airport, Gurayat Domestic Airport, Jazan's King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Airport, and King Saud bin Abdulaziz (Al Baha) Airport, Hail International Airport, NEOM Bay Airport, Taif International Airport, Abha International Airport, Prince Nayef Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Qassim, Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Tabuk Airport, Prince Abdul Mohsin bin Abdulaziz Yanbu Airport, Al Wajh Domestic Airport, Dawadimi Airport, Rafhaa Airport, Al-Jouf International Airport, Tarif Airport, Wadi Al-Dawasir Airport and Rabigh Airport.

 

In its Q1 2024 operational performance report, Cluster 2 added that the outbound cargo reached 106,810 kilograms, while inbound cargo reached 106,840 kilograms.

Cluster 2 indicated that six new destinations were launched, namely (Najran-Cairo, Tabuk-Cairo, Taif-Cairo, AlUla-Bahrain, AlUla-Oman and Al-Jouf-Cairo), via EgyptAir, Gulf Air, Nile Air, Nesma Airlines and Royal Jordanian Airports.

 

Meanwhile, the relaunched destinations include Al-Dawadimi-Riyadh, Rafhaa-Jeddah, Riyadh-AlQurayyat through Saudia, and Hail-Dammam through Flynas.

 

Cluster 2 is a subsidiary of Matarat Holding Co., which was established on April 13, 2013, and manages and operates 27 airports across the Kingdom, according to data compiled by Argaam.

 

Matarat Holding aims to develop and promote the performance of the Kingdom's airports through its subsidiaries (Riyadh Airports, Jeddah Airports, Dammam Airports, and Cluster 2 Airports) in pace with the rapid development currently witnessed in Saudi Arabia.


The company intends to support sustainable development within the framework of the National Aviation Strategy emanating from the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, one of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
