The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) extended the deadline for companies to submit their bids for the design and construction contract of the Riyadh Metro Line 7 until June 15, MEED magazine reported.
 
RCRC initially issued the request for proposals (RFP) to selected companies in September 2024, with an original deadline set for March 15.

The project includes the construction of a metro line connecting the Qiddiya project, King Abdullah Park, King Salman Park, Misk City, and Diriyah Gate. The total length of the line will be approximately 65 kilometers, with 47 kilometers running underground and 19 kilometers above ground.

 

The line will feature 19 stations, of which 14 will be built underground and five above ground.

 

Consortiums planning to bid for the contract include Alstom (France), FCC (Spain), Freyssinet Saudi Arabia (local), Webuild (Italy), Nesma (local), Siemens (Germany), Samsung C&T (South Korea), AL-AYUNI Investment and Contracting Co. (local), Hitachi Rail (Japan), OHLA (Spain), Almabani (local), Al Bawani (local), CRRC (China), Mapa (Turkey), and Limak (Turkey).

 

According to data available on Argaam, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz inaugurated the Riyadh Metro project in November 2024.

 

The project currently includes six lines covering a total length of 176 kilometers with 85 stations, including four main stations.

 

The six metro lines were launched in phases, with the first (blue), fourth (yellow), and sixth (purple) lines starting operations on Dec. 1, 2024.

 

The second (red) and fifth (green) lines followed on Dec. 15, 2024, while the third (orange) line commenced operations on Jan. 5, 2025.
