The Iranian government denied a claim by US President Donald Trump that officials from the Islamic Republic proposed holding a meeting in Washington.
In a post on X on Wednesday, June 18, Iran’s mission to the United Nations stated that Tehran “will not negotiate under coercion” and that no Iranian official has ever sought to crawl to the White House’s doorstep.
The denial follows comments by Trump earlier in the day, in which he said Iran had reached out to the United States seeking negotiations.
Trump claimed Tehran is facing significant challenges and added that he has not yet decided whether the US will join Israel in launching airstrikes against Iran.
