Trump signals readiness to replace Powell if needed

US president Donald Trump said he has several names in mind to replace Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, if necessary.

 

At a press conference today, June 25, following the NATO summit, Trump renewed his criticism of Powell, without providing further details on potential successors.

 

He described Powell as lacking intelligence and having a mediocre mindset, attributing those qualities to his performance at the Fed.
