Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, CEO of Al Moammar Information Systems Co. (MIS)
The expected financial impact will begin to materialize once MIS receives the first development notice from the fund, Al-Ghamdi told Argaam, adding that the effect will be positive for the company’s performance.
He said the deal significantly boosts MIS’s current capacity and will support growing demand from projects under development. The agreement also includes potential for additional capacity beyond the initial 112 MW, with the total value to be disclosed upon receipt of the development notice.
Al-Ghamdi noted that the 112 MW expansion surpasses other recent regional deals, citing 100 MW data center contracts signed during the GITEX exhibition in the UAE.
Demand for data centers in Saudi Arabia is strong, fueled by the rise of artificial intelligence technologies and increasing requirements for GPUs and accelerator chips. This is driving the need for both general-purpose and AI-specialized high-capacity data centers, he added.
The expansion is backed by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Public Investment Fund, and robust private sector demand. Al-Ghamdi pointed to Saudi Arabia’s broader ambitions to become a global data hub, referencing recent agreements such as HUMAIN’s partnership with Nvidia and AMD to supply advanced chips and build a 500 MW cloud platform, and NEOM’s plans to establish a fully integrated factory and 1.5 GW data center.
