President Donald Trump said he would likely impose a global blanket tariff of 15-20% on countries with no trade agreements with the US.
In a press conference with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer today, July 28, Trump stated, “For the world, I would say it will be somewhere in the 15 to 20% range...I just want to be nice."
He stressed these tariffs would apply to nations seeking to do business with the US, noting that signing 200 individual trade deals is unrealistic.
The proposed range is notably higher than the 10% universal tariff that Trump had previously announced on April 2.
