The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing announced the updated technical terms for periodic vehicle inspection facilities.

In a statement, the ministry said that these terms apply to all facilities licensed by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) to conduct periodic vehicle inspection activities.

The terms aim to regulate the construction and development of periodic inspection facility buildings to meet consumer needs, improve the quality of services provided, enhance health and safety standards in the sector, raise compliance standards to address visual distortions, and allocate appropriate locations for periodic vehicle inspection facilities.

The ministry also indicated that the classifications are divided into four categories, based on capacity, number of inspection lanes, and type of vehicles inspected. These include facilities designated for inspecting trucks, trailers, and vehicles carrying hazardous materials, in addition to mobile technical inspection vehicles that operate with specialized technical systems.

The terms also include precise standards related to site design, spaces, and parking spaces, in addition to architectural and technical requirements covering ventilation, air conditioning, and lighting systems, fire prevention systems, and compliance with the Saudi Building Code. This is in addition to providing facilities and support services for people with disabilities in accordance with universal accessibility standards.
