Russian oil pipeline operator Transneft has warned producers of potential output cuts after a series of Ukrainian drone attacks on critical export ports and refineries, Reuters reported, citing informed sources.
The sources explained that Transneft, which transports more than 80% of Russia's total oil production, has imposed in recent days restrictions on companies' ability to store oil within its pipeline network and warned producers that they may accept smaller quantities if the damage continues.
The agency reported, citing energy experts, that continued Ukrainian attacks could push Russia, which accounts for about 9% of global oil production, to reduce its supplies.
Kyiv has intensified its attacks on Russian energy infrastructure since August in an attempt to weaken Moscow's war effort and reduce its revenues after peace talks faltered.
According to Ukrainian officials and Russian industry sources, Ukrainian drones targeted at least 10 refineries, at one point disrupting almost one-fifth of Russia's refining capacity and damaging its leading Baltic Sea ports of Ust-Luga and Primorsk.
