US natural gas inventories rose less than expected during the week ending Sept. 26, remaining above their year-ago level.
Data released Thursday by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed a 53 billion cubic feet (bcf) increase, below Wall Street Journal analysts' expectations of 70 bcf.
US natural gas inventories are 0.6% higher than the year-ago level and about 5% above the five-year average of 3.39 trillion cubic feet.
