The total number of oil rigs worldwide dropped by 147 units year-on-year (YoY) in September, reaching 1,812.
However, this number was up 19 units compared to August, Baker Hughes data showed.
The Middle East rig count increased by 10 units month-on-month (MoM), reaching 511 in September.
Meanwhile, the number of oil and gas rigs outside the US and Canada rose by eight units MoM to 1,084, though it remained down by 72 YoY.
