US President Donald Trump announces Hamas-Israel first-phase peace deal on Truth Social

US President Donald Trump announced early on Thursday, Oct. 9, that Hamas and the Israeli government have reached agreement on the first phase of his peace plan, paving the way to end the two-year conflict in Gaza.

On Truth Social, Trump wrote: “I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace.”

All Parties will be treated fairly! This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this Historic and Unprecedented Event happen. BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!”

Meanwhile, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari tweeted that the mediators had announced an agreement overnight covering all terms and mechanisms for implementation of phase one of the Gaza truce agreement, which includes cessation of war, release of Israeli captives and Palestinian prisoners, and entry of aid. Full details will be disclosed later.
