Major financial markets across the world are closed on Thursday for the Christmas holiday, including those in the United States, Canada, Germany, Britain, France, Italy, and Switzerland, as well as Australia and New Zealand.
The closures came after European and US markets ended trading early on Wednesday. Many European markets will remain closed on Friday, while US stock and bond markets are due to resume normal trading on Friday.
