Saudi Arabia's consumer spending rises 8% to SAR 133.5B in February

Consumer spending in Saudi Arabia increased to SAR 133.5 billion in February 2026, up 8% from approximately SAR 123.1 billion in the same month of 2025.

 

Consumer spending in Saudi Arabia includes total cash withdrawals, point-of-sale (POS) transactions, and e-commerce sales through the Mada network.

 

According to monthly data from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), POS sales in Saudi Arabia rose by 3% in February 2026 to about SAR 59.9 billion, compared to the same period in 2025.

 

The data showed that these sales were conducted through 939.3 million transactions across 2.4 million POS terminals.

 

POS transactions represent consumer spending using debit and credit cards at shopping malls, retail stores, pharmacies, and other outlets.

 

Meanwhile, cash withdrawals from ATMs declined by around 3% in February 2026 to approximately SAR 43.2 billion, compared to February 2025.

 

These withdrawals were made through 14,600 ATMs operated by banks and the Saudi network across 112.1 million transactions. The total number of issued bank cards reached 65.7 million.

 

E-commerce sales via Mada cards surged to SAR 30.4 billion in February 2026, marking a 46% increase compared to the same period last year.

 

According to SAMA data, these transactions were carried out through 169.7 million operations.

 

E-commerce sales via Mada cards include transactions made through online shopping websites and applications using Mada cards, and exclude transactions conducted via Visa, Mastercard, and other credit cards.
