US President Donald Trump said a new round of negotiations with Iran could begin within the next two days in Pakistan, noting his inclination to proceed with the talks.
“You have to stay there, really, because something could happen over the next couple of days, and we are leaning toward going there,” Trump said in remarks to the New York Post today, April 14.
“That’s the most likely scenario — you know why? Because the field marshal is doing a great job,” he added.
Trump was referring to Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, whose relationship with him strengthened last year during the recent military standoff with India.
