US President Donald Trump
US President Donald Trump said he sees the war with Iran could end very soon, indicating that he expects peace talks to resume.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump added that he had exchanged letters with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, as preparations were underway for a planned meeting between the two presidents.
Trump explained that he does not expect oil price movements and developments in the energy market to affect the course of his meeting with the Chinese president.
Regarding the economic repercussions, Trump acknowledged that the war would negatively impact the pace of US economic growth, saying that the economy would take a hit during the conflict.
He indicated that this impact would be temporary, explaining that the economy might be affected for several weeks before returning to a path of recovery. He also predicted a significant drop in oil prices before the midterm elections.
