Cryptocurrencies
Cryptocurrencies fell today, April 23, amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding tensions in the Middle East, as the US awaits Iran’s response before resuming peace talks.
Bitcoin declined by 1.26% to $77,881 as of 11:39 a.m. Makkah time, after rising above $79,000 on April 22 to its highest level since late January.
At the same time, Ethereum dropped by around 2.59% to $2,336.39, while Ripple fell 1.42% to $1.4168.
Despite the decline, Bitcoin has weathered the impact of the conflict with Iran better than many assets, including gold. The yellow metal has dropped by nearly 10% since Feb. 27, while the world’s largest cryptocurrency by market value has risen by more than 15% over this period.
