“SATORP’s” aromatics plant goes on stream

Saudi ARAMCO Total for Refining and Petrochemicals (SATORP) started commercial operations of the aromatics plant. The plant has a production capacity of 700 thousand tons of p-Xylene and 140 thousand tons of Benzene per annum, according to ICIS news’ sources.

First shipment of p-Xylene is to be exported to Asian markets soon; the source added..

SATORP is $ 20bn (SAR 70bn) investments project 62.5% owned by Saudi ARAMCO and 37.5% by Total France. The project includes a refinery with a production capacity of 400 thousand tons per annum in addition to a petrochemicals complex.

SATORP is expected to offer 25% of its capital to publicshareholders this year.
