The Saudi Geological Survey has discovered large quantities of porphyry copper deposits in the area of Dawadmi province, which extends to the north of Al-Quway'iyah, according to the state-owned news agency.
Based on the kingdom’s mining regulations, the ministry of petroleum and mineral resources will seize the area, which will be considered as a mining reserve.
Oil minister Ali Al-Naimi said the discovery can put the mining sector as a third economic pillar after oil and petrochemicals.
