State-owned energy giant Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (Saudi Aramco) received on Monday engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) proposals for its Fadhili gas plant located in the kingdom’s eastern province, Middle East Economic Digest (MEED) reported citing unnamed industry sources.
Contractors were said to have submitted bids for three packages for the facility, each estimated to be worth $2 billion. The project’s budget is now estimated at $6.5 billion, up from the initial $5 billion projection, the sources added.
Other work on the plant is expected to be tendered in the future, including a large pipeline package.
In its first phase, the Fadhili Gas Plant will process 2.5 billion standard cubic feet per day (scfd) from onshore and offshore fields. The facility is set to come on line in 2019. Drilling for non-associated gas to supply the plant began in 2014.
