Faisal bin Bandar, governor of Riyadh, inaugurated on Monday the Saudi capital’s first Mövenpick Hotel; a SAR 800 million development which is part of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ plans to expand in the kingdom, the luxury hotel management company said in a statement.
The hotel, which includes 438 rooms and suites, is located in the city’s business district on King Fahad Road and 30 minutes away from King Khalid International Airport. The property is also the tenth Mövenpick hotel to open in Saudi Arabia.
Mövenpick is aiming to open and operate at least 15 properties across the country by 2020, which would boost its inventory to 3,894 rooms. According to the company’s website, it has plans to launch a branded hotel in Jeddah this year, as well as an additional property in Al Khobar next year.
