Mobile Telecommunications Co. (Zain Saudi), the kingdom’s third-largest telecom provider, has urged current and future subscribers to visit its branches to take their fingerprints as mandated by the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), the company said in a statement.
Last month, CITC said that the country’s security agencies would enforce a new regulation requiring all telecommunication subscribers to register their fingerprints starting January 21.
The decision is a security measure requested by the Interior Ministry to prevent people from getting sim cards using fraudulent or expired identification cards.
